Two of last year’s most celebrated movies, animated hit KPop Demon Hunters and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein are both joining the Criterion Collection, Variety reports.
KPop Demon Hunters and Frankenstein are of course both Netflix movies, leading many fans to wonder if either movie would ever be getting a physical media release. Variety’s report tosses those concerns out the window, and we can expect more news soon. Stay tuned.
Variety reminds this afternoon, “The Criterion Collection publishes classic and contemporary films from around the world in editions that offer the highest technical quality, as well as supplemental materials including interviews and behind-the-scenes looks.”
Guillermo del Toro had previously teased that Frankenstein‘s eventual physical media release will include at least one deleted scene, and he’s also been teasing an extended cut of the film.
Both Frankenstein and KPop Demon Hunters are nominated for multiple Oscars. Frankenstein is nominated for Best Picture, while KPop is nominated for Best Animated Feature.
KPop Demon Hunters is getting a sequel, but don’t expect that until 2029.
