Adam Wingard’s ‘Onslaught’ Is Now Available To Watch At Home

Onslaught digital home release

Adam Wingard’s Onslaught is set in the world of The Guest and also takes place around Halloween, which makes it a suitable seasonal watch this time of year. Luckily, the no-holds-barred bloodbath is now available to watch at home.

The connections between Onslaught and The Guest are apparent from the first introduction to Adria Arjona‘s flawed heroine, which sees her using jack-o’-lanterns as target practice.

Arjona (The Belko Experiment, Morbius) leads as Celeste, a perpetually pissed-off Army vet with PTSD. Celeste spends her days shooting guns near her remote desert trailer park and chasing down rent from tenants, until her ex drops off her daughter Daisy (Blake Kennedy) unexpectedly.

Celeste’s bad day gets worse when a trio of super soldiers, genetically enhanced by Dr. Hans Kammler (Dan Stevens), break confinement from their lab just north of the park and begin a relentless murder spree.

Rebecca Hall (The Night House, Godzilla x Kong), Michael Biehn, Reginald VelJohnson, Eric Wareheim, Drew Starkey, and Alex “Poatan” Pereira also star.

Simon Barrett (You’re Next, The Guest) wrote the script.

Wingard said previously, “I look at this as a cap in the trilogy between The Guest and You’re Next. It’s not like a direct sequel, in the sense that it’s a continuation of those characters, but it takes place in the same town as The Guest. The idea is that the secret programs we’re seeing going on here are other little aspects of the same thing David’s character came from in The Guest.”

Dan Stevens starred alongside Maika Monroe in 2014 action-thriller The Guest. He played a mysterious ex-soldier with a secret agenda who wreaks havoc on a small town. While Onslaught escalates the bloody violence, it also peaks a bit early.

Onslaught is rated ‘R’ for “Strong bloody violence, some gore, sexual material/nudity, and language.”
