Paul Solet’s (Grace) upcoming suspense thriller Dark Summer is coming to select theaters and VOD January 9th courtesy of IFC Midnight. This is the filmmaker’s first feature since Grace back in 2009. Since then he directed a short for the genre YouTube channel BlackBoxTV and that’s it. I for one am excited for him to take on a feature length again.
Between the creepy first poster below and the trailer released earlier this month, it looks like Dark Summer will be kicking 2015 horror very nicely.
Combine horror classics THE SHINING and POLTERGEIST with the dark tension of DISTURBIA and you have DARK SUMMER, the chilling tale about a troubled teen confined to house arrest for the summer, who’s suddenly haunted by an evil entity who may or may not be the ghost of his former classmate. The film stars Keir Gilchrist (United States of Tara), Stella Maeve (Chicago PD), Peter Stormare(veteran actor from over 100 different films and television series – Fargo, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Armageddon, The Big Lebowski), Grace Phipps (The Vampire Diaries), and Maestro Harrell (The Wire).
