‘Depth’ Update Adds Dive-Bombing Sharks
Digital Confectioners has fin-ished the next expansion for its competitive aquatic horror game Depth that introduces another substantial dose of free content to what continues to be the best shark lunch simulator on Steam. In addition to an array of technical improvements and improved performance, the ‘Tails from the East’ expansion includes 65 new shark and weapon skins to unlock by playing PvP on the official servers, a map called Breach that features a sunken pirate ship, and a frightening new ability for the sharks called breaching.
Starting immediately, Team Scuba Snacks will need to expand their awareness to include the area directly above them lest they run the risk of being dive-bombed by sharks. If that doesn’t leave you quivering in your flippers, you must be one cool sea cucumber.
The timing really couldn’t be better, since Depth is just $6.24 (75% off!) thanks to the Steam Summer Sale. And for our friends in the East, a new matchmaking region for East Asia arrived with this update, along with language support for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Finally, I’d like to tell you the tale of One Shark, Two Sharks, Red Shark, Blue Shark.
Long ago there lived two brothers, Frost the Ice Dragon, and Flame the Fire Dragon. Flame possessed a hot temper, a fiery heart, and eyes like burning rubies. Frost held a cool disposition, a curious spirit, and brilliant eyes the shade of sapphires.
One day Frost saw chaos ensuing below the seas they controlled and took the form of a Great White shark to investigate below. Tough blue scales covered him from nose to fin, and ice-cold horns protruded from his face and all the way down his back. Flame with his competitive spirit followed suit, shape-shifting into a crimson red Great White.
From the depths came terrible sea-monsters, which attacked all that lived above their dominion. Angered by this the two brothers worked tirelessly and fought back the monsters, driving them back into the depths. Pleased with the harmony they had returned to the sea, both Frost and Flame kept their Great White form and it is said to this day they rule from below bringing peace across all seas.

‘A Man in the Woods With an Axe’ – First Look at ’80s Throwback Slasher [Exclusive]
We have an exclusive first look at A Man in the Woods With an Axe, a blood-soaked, genre-twisting homage to 1980s slasher films.
Spanning four decades, A Man in the Woods With an Axe begins in the summer of 1987 before pushing into the modern era, weaving together timelines and perspectives in a way that builds both dread and intrigue.
Drawing inspiration from genre standouts like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Hatchet, and The Cabin in the Woods, the film blends visceral horror with moments of dark humor, creating a uniquely balanced experience that honors tradition while carving its own identity.
Writer-director Dillon Brown (Primal Darkness) aims to deliver everything fans crave from a slasher while boldly subverting expectations with a mid-film twist that redefines the story.
“This is an unapologetic love letter to the films that made me fall in love with horror,” Brown tells Bloody Disgusting. “But I didn’t just want to recreate that feeling; I wanted to challenge it. About halfway through, the film takes a turn that completely changes how you view not only this story, but the genre itself.”
Brown describes the vintage-inspired production as “far and away the bloodiest film I’ve ever made,” with practical effects helmed by Cody Ruch (The Mill, Pig Hill), an instructor at Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program.
From Horror Dadz Productions, A Man in the Woods With an Axe is currently in production and targeting an early 2027 release.
