Set to screen at the upcoming FrightFest in London is Carles Torrens’ Pet, which is penned by Jeremy Slater (who wrote “The Exorcist” pilot for Fox).
In the film, a lonely man (“Lost” star Dominic Monaghan) fatefully reunites with a former high school classmate. When she spurns his advances, he takes her prisoner, only to find that she is not what she seems.
Ksenia Solo, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Parsons, John Ross Bowie, Da’Vone McDonald, and Janet Song all star in the thriller that Trace reviewed out of the SXSW Film Festival World Premiere.
‘Pet’ has been described as being in the vein of ‘Hard Candy’ and ‘Gone Girl.’ It doesn’t exactly have the wit or intelligence of those two films, but what it lacks in those qualities it makes up for in pure trashy fun. No one would accuse Pet as being subtle or high art, but as a one of the Midnighters at SXSW, it turns out to be the perfect fit.
