Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s latest genre offering, The Neighbor, a crime thriller that reunites them with The Collector producers Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizotti, and star Josh Stewart, is moving into the UK.

While the U.S. gets to see the film on September 6, it will arrive in UK cinemas and on VOD September 16 with a DVD release slated for October 31. Check out some new imagery to go along the UK poster and quad.

The Neighbor, directed by Dunstan from a screenplay he co-wrote with Melton, is a crime thriller set in Mississippi where a man who discovers the dark truth about his secretive neighbor and what, or who, he may be keeping in the cellar.

Josh Stewart, who also starred in the duo’s The Collection, leads with Melissa Bolona (Shark Lake), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Bill Engvall, Ronnie Blevins (Fear, Inc, Seven Psychopaths), Jaqueline Fleming and Luke Edwards (“True Detective”).

In this exclusive clip, Dunstan channels his inner Hitchcock while giving homage to Rear Window. Essoe, spying on her neighbor (Engvall), catches him murdering someone. Scared already, she’s shocked to realize that he sees her!

“’The Neighbor’ takes place in the small town of Cutter, Mississippi, where most people keep to themselves. But when John (Josh Stewart) comes home to find his girlfriend Rosie (Alex Essoe) missing, he suspects his mysterious and off-putting neighbor (Bill Engvall) is somehow involved. John learns that Rosie’s life is not all that is at stake after a visit to his neighbor’s cellar. It becomes clear that the seemingly quiet town is more dangerous than it looks, and John and Rosie must do more than just run away if they want to survive the night.”

‘Hokum’ Heads Home to Digital Tomorrow Ahead of Physical Media Release in August

Hokum Review - Hokum Digital Release Date

After scaring up a strong theatrical run, Oddity director Damian McCarthy’s Hokum heads home to Digital this week.

Settle in for a spooky supernatural chiller as Hokum arrives on all Digital platforms to rent or own beginning June 2, followed by a Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD Combo and DVD release on August 11, 2026.

Adam Scott (“Severance”) stars in Hokum as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman. When he retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw Ohm into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.

Peter Coonan (“The Alienist: Angel of Darkness”), David Wilmot (“Station Eleven”), Florence Ordesh (“Departure”), Michael Patric (“Frontier”), Will O’Connell (“Game of Thrones”), Brendan Conroy (“Bodkin”), and Austin Amelio (“The Walking Dead”) also star.

Get a peek at the upcoming physical media release below, including a few special features.

Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (Weapons) & Steven Schneider (Insidious) produce alongside Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy (Late Night with the Devil), Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, & Mairtín de Barra, and Cweature Features’ Ken Kao & Josh Rosenbaum.

I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “A quaint Irish hotel with a deeply haunted history awaits an American writer in McCarthy’s third outing, continuing his streak for folkloric tales of supernatural karma and spine-tingling terror with a dark sense of humor.”

What’s next from Damian McCarthy? He’s currently writing a haunted house movie, but recent comments suggest he may be moving into other genres beyond that upcoming project.
