Even John Carpenter himself couldn’t resist tweeting out artist BENAVLiS‘ tribute to him, agreeing that it’s the perfect drawing of himself. The artist, co-owner of MiLLBiLLY ART Studio in Fall River, Massachusetts, specializes in a unique brand of “paper pullout” art, wherein one image becomes an entirely different image with a single pull upwards.
Carpenter, who BENAVLiS literally turned into “The Thing,” is merely the latest piece in his monster-filled collection of “pullout” art, which we’ve stumbled across thanks to Carpenter sharing the aforementioned piece. How it works is that he folds a sheet of paper and draws an unassuming looking image on it, hiding a hideous monstrosity beneath the fold.
When he pulls up, the art “animates” into the monster.
