Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited – whose made trash like It’s Alive and Captivity – is going to try and make a huge movie having closed key pre-sales at Cannes on big budget disaster project Inversion, based on a script and dazzling concept art. Apparently, “dazzling” art can sell a movie no matter what movies you’ve made in the past (like Universal Soldier: Regeneration, too). ScreenDaily reports.
Damon and Foresight president Tamara Birkemoe are in final talks with a director and a major US studio is in place for the story of a potentially apocalyptic end of gravity.
Variety adds the full synopsis: “Inversion turns on a scenario where the Earth suddenly loses its gravity, the catastrophic results of such a phenomenon and what could be done, if anything, to restore gravity and save the Earth and its six billion inhabitants.”
Deals have closed with Spain (DeA Planeta), Russia (West), Scandinavia (Mis. Label), Benelux (Dutch Filmworks) and South Africa (Nu Metro). Further deals have closed in Latin America and Asia.
Talks are ongoing for Australia, Italy and Switzerland.
Bragi Schut and David Arata co-wrote the screenplay. Philip Lee, Michael Nozik and Markus Barmettler are producing.
Production is set for early 2015.
