This morning the Toronto International Film Festival announced all of the genre films playing, including ten in the Midnight Madness programme. Part of the announcement was André Øvredal’s thriller The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Øvredal is known to many for his fantastic faux-documentary Trollhunter.
In The Autopsy of Jane Doe, “Two coroners – a father and son – receive a mysterious homicide victim with no apparent cause of death. As they attempt to identify the beautiful young “Jane Doe,” they discover increasingly bizarre clues that hold the key to her terrifying secrets.”
The film stars Brian Cox (The Ring, Red), Emile Hirsch (The Darkest Hour, Killer Joe), and Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy).
The film will be distributed in theaters (probably meaning Los Angeles and New York) by IFC Midnight, who acquired the film earlier this year.
