Production has begun on a new fan-made documentary focusing on the 80’s cult classic, Clue: The Movie, Bloody Disgusting learned.
In the spirit of The Shark is Still Working (Jaws) and Back in Time (Back to the Future), Who Done It: The Clue Documentary is being lensed by filmmaker fans who want to know the entire story of the production.
Interviews with writer/director Jonathan Lynn and cast member Colleen Camp (Yvette) have already been conducted. Actors Michael McKean (Mr. Green), Lesley Ann Warren (Miss Scarlet) and Lee Ving (Mr. Boddy) have also agreed to participate, we’re told.
“’Clue’ is one of the most enjoyable, quotable and rewatchable films of the past 35 years,” says director Jeff C. Smith, who is producing the doc through his company, It Looks Fake Productions. “When I couldn’t find the answers to questions I have always wondered (like who came up with Madeline Kahn’s amazing ‘Flames on the side of my face’ speech), I decided to go find out for myself. It’s very much in the spirit of the game and the movie. We’re solving a mystery!”
The documentary is being produced on spec with the intent to screen at film festivals and fan conventions across the country.
