Troy Duffy Goes Serial Killer Hunting With ‘The Blood Spoon Council’!!

Independent film producer Scott Clayton and his production company Oceanside Media has signed on to produce and fully financeThe Boondock Saints director Troy Duffy‘s new feature film The Blood Spoon Council! Duffy will direct the highly anticipated thriller from a script he wrote with new scribe, Criss Lassiter, Bloody Disgusting learned.

For Duffy’s new chilling psychological thriller, the film follows a vigilante group, known as the Blood Spoon Council, who are hunting down and executing serial killers in the U.S. The FBI commissions a young, rogue profiler to get into the head of the group’s elusive leader. But their investigation is derailed when the whiz kid engages in a secret game of cat-and-mouse with a mastermind the likes of which he’s never seen.

The Blood Spoon Council is Duffy’s first film since his return to writing and directing following The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, the sequel to the cult favorite action crime thriller The Boondock Saints. The original film, starring Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Norman Reedus, developed a colossal fan following through word-of-mouth publicity and successful packaged media distribution. The film ran on a limited theatrical release, but it was the home entertainment sales as a Blockbuster Exclusive selection where the film amassed staggering sums catapulting it to a DVD bestseller and the highest-grossing rental of 2001. The film maintains a strong cult following to this day while finding new audiences through digital platforms.

“[Duffy] brings back the same raw, unforgiving action tangled with the kinetic storytelling that audiences know and love to his new film,” said Clayton.

“I want to create an action-packed psychological thriller with Blood Spoon and I have held nothing back,” adds Duffy. “All the killers and their crimes are inspired by actual serial cases. The mastermind of the Council is a one-of-a-kind character that will take a one-of-a-kind talent to portray him. The Blood Spoon Council may be dark but it is darkly beautiful, darkly exciting and it satisfies that devilish curiosity many of us have about serial killers and the uniquely gifted individuals who pursue them.”

Though Duffy intends to give fans a third installment of The Boondock Saints on the big screen, he is currently partnered with Don Carmody of DCTV to create a rebooted TV series based on the cult franchise entitled, “The Boondock Saints: Origins”.
