We’re big fans of Patrick Sparrow’s illustrations and lurid creations. Taking a break from poster art and enamel pins, his next project is a new genre graphic novel called ZOMRA. You’d better start making a birthday cake as he’s launching with a special screening of George Romero’s Creepshow. Take a look at the concept of the book below and RSVP to the event on Facebook.
“ZOMRA is a new horror comic anthology from independent comic artist Patrick Sparrow. Each issue revolves around one central horror story with several horror mmini-comicsin each book. The first issue’s main story is called ‘Nine of Nine’, and revolves around an old caretaker and his new co worker that work in an old shut down prison, a prison where many bad people have lived and died, but even after death something still remains. Also in issue one is a horror short comic called ‘When you’re smilin’ the whole world smiles with you’, this short illustrates the mythology and folklore surrounding a vengeful spirit called Kuchisake-Onna, better known as the urban legend of the Slit Mouthed Woman “
The first issue is available online and in select comic stores on May 17th, with a special release show at the Apollo Cinema in Kitchener Ontario. The release show will also have a special screening of the seminal horror comic inspired film Creepshow.
