Variety reports that cult Filipino director Mikhail Red (Birdshot) is reuniting with the Philippines studio Star Cinema for zombie film Block Z.
Red’s Eerie, a horror film set within the confines of an exclusive convent school, had its world premiere on Monday at the Singapore International Film Festival. Eerie will release in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2019.
Eerie, which stars Bea Alonzo (“One More Chance”) and Charo Santos-Concio (“The Woman Who Left”), is pegged as a “horror-mystery” and is going to be set in the 90’s. Here’s the full synopsis from Unreel:
Set in the 1990s, the film centers on a clairvoyant counselor who investigates a murder in a Catholic school where the only witness is the ghost of a suicide victim.
Santos-Concio, who debuted with 1977 horror title The Rites of May, plays the role of the school’s head, the Mother Superior.
