One of my favorite films of 2019 was Bliss, a gnarly, gross, and extremely ultraviolent vampire movie from independent filmmaker Joe Begos that features “Friday Night Lights” star Dora Madison as a brilliant painter facing the worst creative block of her life. Her character turns to anything she can to complete her masterpiece, spiraling into a hallucinatory hellscape of drugs, sex, and murder in the sleazy underbelly of Los Angeles.
Bliss is straight-up punk rock, the kind of do-it-yourself indie horror goodness that horror fans are continually begging for – and you can watch it now on Shudder, in addition to owning it on Blu-ray and VOD.
Begos is celebrating with a string of incredibly cool behind-the-scenes shots and videos from the completely independent production backed by his Channel 83 Films crew. There’s even a slo-mo capture of the head explosion sequence!
