If you are watching WGN’s “Salem” you know it’s a deeply dark show with a lot of physical acting and a surprising amount of practical effects. Doing genre work well is always a challenge, add to that all of the physicality and drama of the roles: this isn’t just memorizing lines, this is getting bruised and bloody and thrown around…in real life.
Sitting down with the cast and co-creators of “Salem,” I spoke with them about how they prepare for the rigorous and horrific things they do on set, their favorite parts of working in the horror genre, and their desire to make it as radically realistic as possible.
