5 Questions With Mac Sabbath (Interview)
At the end of last year, I posted a quick little blurb about Mac Sabbath, the fast food-themed parody band that give their own delicious spins on classic Black Sabbath songs. Now I’m back to present you with a brief interview that was done with band manager Mike Odd, the spokesman for Mac Sabbath.
I’ll fully admit that I went a bit on the silly route with these questions. However, the answers are just as, if not more, ridiculous! Head on down for this exclusive five question interview with Mac Sabbath!
The band is also embarking on a short tour this September. All tour dates can be found below.
All right, let’s have it: Why? What’s the reasoning (not seasoning) behind Mac Sabbath?
Well, Ronald Osborne seems to have traveled though time to deliver us a message or some sort of warning of the evils of fast food. If you look at the current climate of the “nourishment” in America and realize the very people who are appointed to be protecting us from evil corporations who don’t have any interest in nourishing anything let alone any one are the same very people who run those corporations, it’s downright, well…Bloody Disgusting! Sometimes it takes a heavy psychedelic rock band of mutants teleported from the 1970’s to point out what once was and what now is. You dig?
Scenario: It’s 2am and you’re deservedly drunk after showering an audience with loads of trans-fat at a sweet and savory gig. You decide to hit up your local (drive thru) what do each of you order?
Although this is the arguably the biggest drive through metal band in the world, we do not advocate late night snacking. It’s best to get your 3 square meals at regular hours. Oh, and as far as 2am goes, to live in a world where we could get this arena size stage show packed up by then would truly be a tasty treat!
While Black Sabbath has a large library of songs, it’s not infinite. If you run into a situation where you want to cover other classic metal songs, will you have to change your name or do you have a plan in place?
Well I’m hard pressed to imagine a world where Mac Sabbath would run out of Black Sabbath songs to butcher. I personally don’t see the need for 10 Mac Sabbath Albums. But I guess you never know, Ronald Osborne goes on and on about all these other “Drive Through Metal” bands that are stealing food out of his mouth, like Burger King Diamond, Cinnabon Jovi, and KFC/DC. I’ve looked these up and they don’t seem to exist, but I would not be surprised if some of these bands popped up soon and he was behind it.
A certain burger chain claims to have served over 99 billion burgers. Do you think you have it in you to serve over 99 billion gigs?
I think we are soon approaching 99. I don’t know about them but I think that’s plenty. How about a pay-per-view with 99 billion viewers? Sooner or later this drive is through, so act now for this limited offer!
Fast food restaurants each have a special sauce, that unique ingredient that many attribute their great success to. Does Mac Sabbath have some kind of “special sauce”? If so, care to share the recipe?
I think the obvious ingredients you speak of are over the top-heavy psychedelic sounds and sights coupled with the guilty pleasure of savory morsels. But I think that what makes this combo meal truly magical is that is a truly scary, heavy, and downright wicked feast for the senses while still being family friendly. Enjoy!

Shudder’s ‘Hellcat’ Exclusive Trailer Traps an Infected Hostage in a Race Against Time
A gnarly infection threatens to claw its way out of a moving camper in the first trailer for Shudder’s claustrophobic Hellcat.
The feature debut of writer/editor/director Brock Bodell, who previously edited the Fantasia title Ultrasound, makes its debut on Shudder on August 14.
In Hellcat, “Lena wakes up in a moving camper trailer with a horrifying wound. She’s warned by the driver that they have one hour to get to a doctor, or she’ll succumb to an unimaginably awful fate. As the pain sets in and reality begins to fray, who should really be afraid?”
Dakota Gorman (Natural Disasters) leads the cast that also includes Todd Terry (“Breaking Bad”), Liz Atwater (The Other People), Jordan Mullins (The Bikeriders), and James Austin Johnson (“Saturday Night Live”) in a voice role. Bodell also produces alongside Andrew Duensing and Nate Eggert.
Hellcat made its world premiere last summer at Fantasia. I wrote in my review, “Hellcat is a bit of a Trojan horror that defies easy classification, by design. Bodell’s sneaky debut feature is occasionally too sparse in its worldbuilding in its bid to preserve the mystery, but not enough to detract from the thrilling road thriller that transforms into a completely left-field type of horror we don’t get nearly enough of. The stripped-down tribute to a classic horror staple catches you off guard in more ways than one, marking Bodell as one to watch.”
In other words, there’s a lot more than meets the eye to Hellcat‘s simple infection setup, delivering plenty of surprises along its bumpy road of horrors.
Check out the trailer and poster below and add Hellcat to your watchlists asap.
