Lionsgate Touches a ‘Nerve’ This September With the Directors of ‘Paranormal Activity 3’

NERVE

Paranormal Activity 3 was quite possibly the best in the franchise. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who also directed the Catfish documentary that has since become an MTV staple, have since gone on to helm the fourth Paranormal, as well as another genre effort called Viral.

In addition, they’ve been hard at work for Lionsgate on Nerve, which we’ve now learned will open in theaters on September 16th.

Based on the YA novel by Jeanne Ryan and a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, February, Scream 4 and “American Horror Story’s” Emma Roberts stars with Dave Franco (Warm Bodies, Fright Night).

Here’s the new synopsis:

Hard-working high school senior Vee DeMarco (Emma Roberts) has had it with living life on the sidelines. When she’s asked by the online game of Nerve – Are you a Watcher or a Player? – Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like a fun, harmless game. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.

Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Kimiko Glenn, Machine Gun Kelly, and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) round out the cast.

Filming took place in New York City.
