Richard Matheson’s post-apocalyptic horror novel “I Am Legend” is one of the greats of the genre. Its commentary on human loneliness in horrifying circumstances has led it to be made into three separate movies, 1964’s The Last Man on Earth, which starred Vincent Price, 1971’s The Omega Man, which starred Charlton Heston, and 2007’s I Am Legend, which starred Will Smith.
But what you might not have known is that there was another version that almost got made that would’ve been directed by Ridley Scott with a script written by John Logan (Alien: Covenant, “Penny Dreadful”) and would’ve starred none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger!
As ridiculous as that might sound, the folks over at Rejected Ideas talk about how the film might’ve actually been really solid! And, as always, it’s interesting to think about what might’ve been.
