Looks like The Force Awaken‘s Daisy Ridley isn’t going scavenging after all as it’s been confirmed that Alicia Vikander, who played Ava in Ex-Machina, is going to be Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film, according to THR.
Directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), the film appears to be basing itself off the 2013 reboot that saw Croft embark on her first adventure after her boat crashes off the coast of a mystical and malevolent island. Untested and very green, Croft is tasked with rescuing her friends and crew, all while battling the Solarii Brotherhood, survivors of other shipwrecks who are desperately trying to leave the island, or the Oni, ancient warriors who are themed after traditional Japanese samurai.
MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing with MGM taking care of production. As of yet, there is no production or release date.
