Sony Screen Gems will have audiences swimming into theaters for Blake Lively’s The Shallows a few days later, moving it from June 24 to June 29, 2016.
In the taut thriller The Shallows, penned by Tony Jaswinski, Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing alone on a secluded beach when she is attacked by a great white shark and stranded just a short distance from shore. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves the ultimate contest of wills, requiring all of Nancy’s ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.
It was directed by Orphan and House of Wax‘s Jaume Collet-Serra.
A new trailer was just release, which gets us into the thick of the terror. The biggest surprise, though, is getting an up close and personal look at the film’s antagonist, a great white shark. This shark looks like it’s been through war, and is all battered and scarred with wound all over its body. Everything in the trailer looks intense and thrilling, except for the fact that some of the shots look bizarrely stage-y (it looks like it was filmed on the Universal Studios backlot with a completely CG background). Whatever, we need more killer shark movies, and this one looks dope.
