Yesterday brought more news about the Nicolas Winding Refn-produced remake of Maniac Cop, which is a remake of the 1988 thriller/horror. But today Refn is looking further into the past by announcing his involvement as producer of the remake of 1968’s Witchfinder General, which starred the legendary Vincent Price.
Originally called The Conqueror Worm, it was directed by Michael Reeves and also starred Ian Ogilvy (Death Becomes Her, Puppet Master 5: The Final Chapter), Rupert Davies, and Hilary Heath. The story followed, “A young soldier [who] seeks to put an end to the evils caused by a vicious witch hunter.
While Refn continues producing all these horror remakes, he’s also gearing up for his own new film The Neon Demon, which stars Elle Fanning and comes out June 24th.
