Dan Aykroyd’s Cameo in ‘Ghostbusters’ Revealed in UK TV Spot

Ghostbusters

A UK TV spot for Paul Feig’s upcoming comedy/horror reboot of Ghostbusters has revealed in full the cameo of Dan Aykroyd, who played Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stanz in the original 1984 film. I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who want to see the movie blind, so just know that the below video gives it all away and you shouldn’t watch it if you want your viewing experience to remain untainted.

The film, which comes out July 15th, 2016, stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. Feig has filmed cameos (in new roles) for many of the original Ghostbusters cast on top of Aykrody, including Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and even Sigourney Weaver.

Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, Neil Casey, and Pat Kiernan also star alongside Chris Hemsworth.

“SNL” vet Neil Casey is the main Ghostbusters villain, Rowan, and was described as a convicted murderer who turns into a ghost after his execution is hit by a supercharged electrical storm. This gives him the power to raise an army of other ghosts, which could be made up of famous villains throughout history.

Meanwhile, Aykroyd took to his Facebook page to write the following glowing review of the upcoming reboot:

As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!

I’m not going to say that Aykroyd didn’t enjoy the movie. In fact, I hope he loved it and that he sees this as a great continuation of the the tories that he helped create! However, it should absolutely be noted that he is an executive producer on the new film, so a grain of salt should absolutely be taken here.
