‘The Witch’ Star Hides From the World in ‘Marrowbone’

Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays the title role in Fox’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Morgan and broke out with A24’s The Witch, has joined the cast of Marrowbone, a psychological thriller that marks the directing debut of writer Sergio G. Sanchez. It centers on four children who hide from the world after their mother’s death on a farm that holds a terrible secret.”

The pic is being executive produced by J.A. Bayona, who directed Sanchez’s script The Orphanage and The Impossible which Sanchez co-wrote, Deadline reports.

Marrowbone follows a 20-year-old who, with his three younger siblings, is plagued by a sinister presence in the manor where they live. To stay together, they have kept secret the death of their beloved mother.

Belen Atienza, working with Bayona on the upcoming A Monster Calls, is producing. Mia Goth, George Mackay and Charlie Heaton co-star. Lionsgate International was selling the new thriller as part of its Cannes slate earlier this spring.

Ishana Night Shyamalan’s ‘Watchers’ Has Been Rated “PG-13” for Violence and Terror

Ishana Night Shyamalan’s feature debut The Watchers is headed to theaters on June 7 from New Line Cinema, and the film has received its official MPA rating this week.

The Watchers is rated “PG-13” for…

“Violence, terror and some thematic elements.”

The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.

The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out”) and Olwen Fouere (The Northman).

The upcoming mystery-horror film is produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. The executive producers are Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.

Joining writer/director Shyamalan behind-the-camera are director of photography Eli Arenson (“Lamb,” “Hospitality”), production designer Ferdia Murphy (“Lola,” “Finding You”), editor Job ter Burg (“Benedetta,” “Elle”) and costume design by Frank Gallacher (“Sebastian,” “Aftersun”). The music is by Abel Korzeniowski (“Till,” “The Nun”).

The Watchers is based on the novel by A.M. Shine.
