The fact that so many people still get inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is a testament to its ability to inspire fear and terror . The story of Jack Torrance and his wife, Wendy, and son, Danny, living in the Overlook Hotel for a winter is a tale that still haunts viewers to this day, leaving an indelible effect.
But sometimes the inspiration doesn’t drive one to create something to inspire horror but rather something a bit more entertaining and amusing. Much like how Mythbuster Adam Savage built a scale model of the infamous hedge maze, YouTube channel Chainsaw Estates (the badass crew behind the The Mist and The Thing custom snow globes) has done something a bit more playful. They’ve created a faux commercial that advertises a board game based on the film and they’ve given the whole thing an 80’s aura.
