This Clip From Rob Zombie’s ’31’ States “War is Hell”
A clip from Rob Zombie’s upcoming horror film 31 has been released and shows the five “contestants” receiving their instructions from Malcolm McDowell’s “Father Murder”, who assures them that “War is Hell”.
Additionally, Zombie has announced that there will be a special one-off advance screening of the film in theaters nationwide on Thursday, September 1st. On top of showing the movie, there will also be, “…the world premieres of the “Gore Whore” and “Get Your Boots On” music videos, a one-on-one Q&A with Rob Zombie and a special look behind the scenes!” Tickets are available here.
“Five carnival workers are kidnapped and held hostage in an abandoned, Hell-like compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns.”
31 stars Sheri Moon Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween), Golden Globe Nominee Malcolm McDowell (“Mozart in the Jungle”, A Clockwork Orange), Jeff Daniel Phillips (The Lords of Salem) and Meg Foster (The Lords of Salem).
Zombie has been fighting to have this movie released to the public for a long time. He went through a strong crowdfunding campaign only to be hit twice with the dreaded NC-17 rating, which would’ve severely restricted the viewing potential. After some edits, it got dropped to an R-rating, but Zombie assures we’ll see an uncut version. The new edit still bears all the earmarks of a Rob Zombie film, as it features, “…strong bloody horror violence, pervasive language, sexual content and drug use.”
The film is going to be released on VOD platforms on September 16th and in limited theaters on October 21st via Saban Films.
“Mythic Quest” actor Chase Yi has been cast in a lead role in Paramount and Blumhouse’s new Paranormal Activity movie, Deadline reports this afternoon.
Ian Tuason (Undertone) will direct the eighth installment in the Paranormal Activity film franchise, set to release in theaters May 21, 2027.
As for character details or plot, well, those remain scarce at this stage.
While we wait for further news on whether the demonic Toby will reappear, Tuason previously revealed to Bloody Disgusting that technology will play a huge role in his vision: “Technology — camera technology — has advanced to a point where it’s become a big part of the film and what I want to do there.”
It’s fitting, especially as it was the original Paranormal Activity that inspired the filmmaker’s haunting debut, undertone.
Paranormal Activity, created by Oren Peli, first hit theaters in 2007. Its groundbreaking minimalist approach to found-footage ghost stories has spawned a seven-film franchise that’s grossed nearly $900 million worldwide.
Franchise originator Oren Peli will produce for Solana Films, with James Wan and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Michael Clear and Judson Scott will exec produce for Blumhouse Atomic, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing the project for the company. Other exec producers include Steven Schneider for Room 101, Inc., Dan Slater and Cody Calahan.
Also on the way soon is the Paranormal Activity stage play.
