FilmRise has acquired North American rights to Seoul Station, a dark Korean animation from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho, reports Variety.
The film is a prequel to live action zombie thriller Train which premiered as a midnight screening in Cannes and has gone on to a stellar theatrical career in South Korea. Station played as the closing film of last month’s Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and has its theatrical debut in Korea next week.
In the film, several groups of people try to survive a zombie pandemic that unleashes itself in downtown Seoul.
Station is presented by Next Entertainment World along with Finecut and Myung Films. Production is by Dadashow.
The film has been invited to other festivals including Annecy, the New York Asian FF, Fantasia, and Sitges.
