Described as a visually spectacular drama, Focus Features will screen The Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona’s A Monster Calls at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival setting the stage for an Oscar run. Focus had originally slated the film for release in October but has since pushed it into “Award Season” with plans for a limited top 10 city run on December 23rd before going wide on January 6th.
Based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel, “12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.”
Lewis MacDougall, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Liam Neeson, and Sigourney Weaver all star.
