It’s been a bit since we heard about Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes, which is actually okay in my book. There was a lot of casting information late last year and even speculation that there would be a trailer well ahead of its release date. Since then, it’s been pretty quiet, allowing the film to fade away into the back of everyone’s mind before roaring back soon with the real marketing push.
It seems that this is the phase we’re beginning to enter as the movie’s plot has been released and it picks up right where Dawn of the Planet of the Apes left audiences.
In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
Andy Serkis returns as Caesar, with Judy Greer as Caesar’s wife, with Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn joining the fight.
War for the Planet of the Apes marches into theaters July 14th, 2017.
