Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, and Clive Owen Star in This Neill Blomkamp-Directed Short

A thrilling and explosive short film called “The Escape” is making its way around and is garnering a lot of attention not only for its cast but also for the production and intensity contained within.

Starring Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead”, “Daredevil”), Vera Farmiga (“Bates Motel”, The Conjuring), Clive Owen (Children of Men, Intruders), and Dakota Fanning (Hide and Seek, War of the Worlds), the short was directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and it’s essentially one big ad for BMW’s new 5 series but it doesn’t really shove that in your face. Besides, there’s a car chase, crashed semis, gunfire, and they even manage to blow up a helicopter. Win-win.

It’s all based on a sci-fi/thriller plotline where humans are being cloned illegally and the FBI is about to raid a facility that is guilty of such experimentations. One such specimen, a young woman named Lily (Fanning), is being driven by Owen, a nameless transporter, to Farmiga’s character, a doctor who assumedly worked on creating Lily.

It’s fun to see something new from Blomkamp, whose last movie was Chappie. There still isn’t any word on the status of his Alien film, the last of which we heard was back in July.
