Just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that the J.J. Abrams-produced sci-fi/thriller God Particle was going to be the next film in the Cloverfield universe, which began in 2008 with the titular film and was followed earlier this year by 10 Cloverfield Lane. On top of the film being announced, it was revealed that it already had its cast and was deep into production.
Star David Oyelowo was recently approached by The Wrap to further discuss the film and what it will be bringing to the screen. After all, the synopsis is rather intriguing…
‘God Particle’ is about a team of astronauts who make a “shocking discovery” and end up fighting for survival in what is described as an altered reality.
Oyelowo tells the site, “Every single day we were on that set we were agog with the inventiveness and innovation, between the technology, the story and the audacity of what we were trying to accomplish. It’s an incredibly exciting and innovative piece of storytelling. It’s incredibly surprising.”
The actor also knows that people might compare it to another film he was in that has a similar plot: Interstellar. However, he assures the site that they’re wildly different films. “The only connection I would say is both films involve space and both films involve me. That’s about as much connection I can see between the two,” he explains.
God Particle also stars Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd, is scheduled to open wide in theaters on February 24th, 2017.
