A24’s The Witch was one of this year’s finest horror films, in my opinion. It was a slow burning, brooding masterpiece of creating tension that builds with each passing moment. Nothing is safe when a family turns against each other as stress and misgivings pile ever more steadily. I absolutely adored the film and cherished seeing something fresh and original.
For some reason, the folk over at CineMix have decided to recut scenes from the film into a new trailer that makes it look like it was directed by Wes Anderson, the man behind film such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and more. By changing the color scheme to have a warmer sepia and adding a quirky soundtrack, they really did nail Anderson’s style. That being said, I’d take director Robert Eggers’ vision any day over this.
