Lionsgate is moving forward again on the social-media thriller XOXO, signing Greenleaf co-showrunner Clement Virgo to rewrite and direct, Deadline reports.
Darren Aronofsky and Groundswell Productions’ Michael London are attached to produce the pic, which follows an up-and-comer executive with a real-life fiancé having an online affair.
The studio has been working to bring the film to the screen since 2011, explains the site, when it acquired the script from Black Swan scribe Mark Heyman. Lionsgate previously tapped The Adjustment Bureau director George Nolfi to rewrite and direct, though that version of the film ultimately didn’t move forward.
