We’ve Got the First Five Minutes of ‘Ghost in the Shell’!

Published

on

Ghost in the Shell opens in theaters nationwide on March 31, 2017.

I always like to be honest with you guys. And if I’m being completely honest, I know absolutely nothing about the source material that this year’s Ghost in the Shell is based on. But even despite that, I think this movie looks absolutely awesome. I’m particularly fond of the creepy geisha robots that were showcased in the trailer; they’re also highlighted in the film’s opening scene.

Ahead of the release later this month, we’re serving up the first five minutes of Ghost in the Shell right goddamn now. Come for Scarlett Johansson kicking ass. Stay for the geisha bots.

In the near future, Major (Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others.

Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, and Pilou Asbaek also star.

The film, directed by Rupert Sanders, is based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
