Don’t See ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ in 3-D (Trailer)
We vote with our wallets and we shouldn’t be voting “yes” to seeing classic films post-converted to 3-D. It’s a sham, it’s always been, and it was perpetuated by James Cameron himself. Yet, here comes Cameron’s eternal classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 3-D (at least they didn’t tout it as “the way it was always meant to be seen” or I may have lost it).
Cameron’s iconic, perfect, and timeless masterpiece, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was converted to 3-D specifically to cash in on the international success of Terminator: Genisys. Being that this new version of the film exists, it makes sense for it to find a release here in the States. Distrib Films will do so on August 25th.
Don’t see it.
The entire entertainment industry tried to cram 3-D down our throats for the better part of the last decade. They told you that you needed special Blu-ray players, even better televisions, and forced you to buy stupid as fuck 3-D “shutter glasses” that were battery operated (and dark), even though the cheap, plastic ones looked 1,000 times better. In fact, they used 3-D to jack theater ticket prices so high that it’s become an elitist event to have a night out on the town with the family. Yet, 3-D televisions have officially failed, so they’re now pushing virtual reality as the next big thing.
It’s a big tech scam and Hollywood is in on it. Terminator 2 in 3-D is probably the last of this post-conversion nonsense, but it’s also the perfect movie to say “fuck you” to specifically because Cameron is behind it. It’s easy to look back at the release of Avatar and pinpoint it as the starting point to the 3-D revolution, which eviscerated our wallets with the garbage tech. But here’s another reason to say “no” to this cash grab… Avatar 2.
Why has Avatar been delayed? The real reason? Virtual. Reality. Cameron, even though he continually slams virtual reality, is quite possibly pulling of the biggest tech coup once again. We’ll all fall for it and buy into the new theatrical experience. By the time it fails and becomes the next Sega CD or Power Glove theater prices will have ballooned beyond the $20 mark. And they wonder why people aren’t going to theaters anymore.
While 3-D is already dead, saying “no” to seeing Terminator 2 in 3-D is the perfect way to cap it off. Don’t even give them the satisfaction of going out with a bang (or thumbs up).

Steven Spielberg to Produce ‘The Mandela Catalogue’ Movie Based on Viral YouTube Series
Hollywood is serious about landing the next Backrooms. Hot on the heels of a Siren Head feature announcement, Deadline reports that a new movie based on viral YouTube series The Mandela Catalogue is in development.
It also has some Hollywood heavy hitters behind it.
Amblin Entertainment’s Steven Spielberg, United Artists’ Scott Stuber (Frankenstein), and Amazon MGM Studios are set to produce, emerging victorious after a highly competitive 11-studio bidding war.
Launched in 2021, the YouTube series is set in the fictional Mandela County, Wisconsin which is “invaded by shape-shifting, nearly immortal creatures called Alternates. The Alternates are led by a false depiction of the Archangel Gabriel and their aim is to wipe out the human race by psychologically torturing them to the point of suicide. The Alternates are known for manipulating AV media, TVs, computers and GPS systems.”
The movie will be directed by the series’ creator, Alex Kister, based on a screenplay he adapted with Tyler Clifton.
The Mandela Catalogue has racked up an impressive 100 million views across its official episodes alone, solidifying it as one of the largest original analog horror franchises on YouTube.
Spielberg and Holly Bario are producing for Amblin Entertainment alongside Aaron B. Koontz for Paper Street Pictures and Stuber and Nick Nesbitt for United Artists. Kister and Clifton are also producing. Annie McCreery will oversee the project for United Artists. Maria Fortese will oversee for Amblin.
