‘The Death of Me’: ‘Texas Chainsaw’ and ‘Friday the 13th’ Director Performs Ritual at Canes

Outside of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, I’m not a huge fan of Marcus Nispel‘s work. While many of you enjoyed his reboot of Friday the 13th, it’s hard to get behind Pathfinder, Conan and even the most recent Exeter. No matter, his films look amazing, so maybe it’s just a matter of finding that perfect script?

With the Cannes market getting underway, Bloody Disgusting learned that 13 Films is pre-selling Nispel’s next, a psychological thriller that’s actually got a pretty insane logline.

In The Death of Me, “A couple on a tropical holiday awaken one morning with a hangover and no recollection of what transpired. When playing the video back of their previous night, they learn they participated in a ritual that somehow ended with the husband murdering the wife… though she’s very much alive.

It’s got a “Tales From the Crypt” quality that I love, and I’m looking forward to seeing if they’re able to get this one off the ground. Watch this space for news.
