Potential ‘God Particle’ Plot Details Suggest Direct ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Connection

Just how connected is this whole Cloverfield Universe?

Set for release in October, director Julius Onah’s God Particle has been confirmed to be the third film in the expanded Cloverfield Universe that began with the 2008 found footage monster movie and continued with last year’s 10 Cloverfield Lane. Like the latter movie, God Particle (a tentative title, at the moment) began its life as an original film, but it evolved into a Cloverfield franchise installment when J.J. Abrams came aboard to produce. But what does that mean, exactly?

Over on the Cloverfield Reddit page, ‘Dratliff21’ just shared a screen-shot that seems to spill the God Particle plot details that we’ve been hungry for these last several months. The screen-grab was allegedly pulled from a survey that was briefly available on Swagbucks, and it strongly suggests that God Particle is firmly connected to 10 Cloverfield Lane

If these details are in fact true, and they sure seem to be as they line up with the official plot details we’ve thus far been fed (“a team of astronauts make a shocking discovery and end up fighting for survival“), then the story told in God Particle is set in motion by “an invasion of alien creatures that threatens all of mankind.” This jives with the final act of 10 Cloverfield Lane, where we saw that alien creatures had indeed invaded the Earth.

Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd star in the film.

God Particle arrives on October 27, 2017.
