When 20th Century Fox made an X-Men movie back in 2000 I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever see one adapted from Marvel’s New Mutants. Yet here we are and I’m gushing at the endless possibilities that could come if this “spinoff” is successful. Shit, Cable is already working his way into the Deadpool sequel, which could mean both characters making an appearance in a future New Mutants film.
Josh Boone confirmed yesterday (with this hilarious Instagram post) that shooting began today on the adaptation that will introduce a handful of young mutants to the X-verse.
Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) stars as Wolfsbane with Anya Taylor-Joy (Split) appearing as Magik. Then there’s Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, and Blu Hunt as Mirage. Alice Braga will be co-star as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a doctor that has mutant abilities.
New Mutants, which was recently described as “a full-fledged horror movie,” has been set for an April 13, 2018, opening.
