Trick ‘r Treat director Mike Dougherty announced via Twitter the end of filming of Godzilla: King of Monsters, the sequel to the Godzilla reboot that’s setting the stage for a huge battle with King Kong.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
“When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
The incredible cast includes Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Aisha Hinds.
Dougherty directs from a script he wrote with Zach Shields.
Warner Bros. has set a March 22, 2019, release date with Godzilla vs. Kong slated for release on May 22, 2020.
