Exclusive ‘Curvature’ Clip Gets a Call From the Future [Sitges]

Published

Director Diego Hallivis is bringing his time travel sci-fi drama Curvature, about an engineer who travels back in time to stop herself from committing a murder, to the Sitges Film Festival on October 9th at 18:15 at the Retiro.

In this exclusive first look from 1nMM Productions, a woman (Lyndsy Fonseca) receives a phone call preparing her for a home invasion that’s yet to happen. The caller knows way too much, setting up a suspenseful sequence.

Helen Phillips is a young engineer struggling with the heartbreak of the recent suicide of her husband, Wells Phillips, a physics genius and co-founder of Curvature Research. He was on the cusp of his greatest professional triumph—a time machine prototype shrouded in secrecy—until his long-simmering depression became uncontrollable. Helen’s grieving is interrupted when she wakes up one morning, disheveled and panicked, her memory damaged. The phone rings and a voice, sounding uncannily like her own, warns that she’s in danger. Soon Helen is on the run from unknown pursuers while she follows a trail of clues she seems to have left for herself to find. She quickly realizes that she has actually traveled thirty-six hours back in time, but why? Is it to uncover the truth about her husband’s death? Or is it, as she soon suspects, to stop the past version of herself from committing a violent and irreversible crime?

A mind-bending time travel drama in the vein of Timecrimes and Looper, Curvature examines the difficulty of letting go, while asking how much you would risk to do what you believed was right.

Lyndsy Fonseca, Linda Hamilton, Glenn Morshower, Alex Lanipekun, Zach Avery, and Noah Bean star.

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

In This Tempting Madness, “Mia awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions, and her perception of reality.”

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.

“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”

Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.

Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (HereticThe Blackening).

This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
