Dimension’s ‘Polaroid’ Snapping Thanksgiving Memories!

Dimension Films is showing even more confidence in their upcoming supernatural thriller, Polaroid, moving it out of its new December 1 slot and into Thanksgiving weekend, November 22, 2017.That gives it a five-day holiday weekend run, which could lead to snapshots of big box office numbers.

Deadline notes that Polaroid will join such wide releases as Disney/Pixar’s Coco, MGM/Annapurna’s Death Wish, and STX Entertainment’s Molly’s Game. In Thanksgiving pasts, there’s typically a genre grab by a distributor, read 2010’s Faster ($23.2M) with Dwayne Johnson and 2009’s Ninja Assassin ($38.1M).

The Lars Klevberg-directed Polaroid stars Kathryn Prescott (The Hive), Mitch Pileggi (“The X-Files”), Grace Zabriskie (The Grudge), Tyler Young (Eyewitness), Keenan Tracey (“Bates Motel”), Samantha Logan (The Fosters), Priscilla Quintana (Stranded), Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale”) and Javier Botet (Mama).

High school loner Bird Fitcher (Prescott) has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.

The film is produced by Roy Lee (The Ring, Blair Witch) and Chris Bender (The Ring, The History of Violence). Written by Blair Butler, it’s based on the short by Lars Klevberg.
