Patrick Brice Talks Potential ‘Creep 3’; Would Take Franchise “Off the Rails”

Published

Mark Duplass’ magnetically terrifying “Josef”/”Aaron”/”Peachfuzz” is back in director Patrick Brice‘s just-released Creep 2 (read my review), a strange and wonderful sequel that takes the story of the titular character down a deeply fascinating new path. If you haven’t seen it, or the first film, watch them BOTH immediately.

So then, what’s the future of the series? Will Creep become a trilogy or have we seen the last of Peachfuzz? Speaking with Phantom Podcast Network, Brice revealed this week that he *hopes* to make Creep 3… though nothing is certain at this time.

I can neither confirm nor deny [another sequel] at this point. But we’re definitely having conversations,” Brice told the podcast. “I’ve been thinking more and more about it. I like the idea of… Creep 2 is kind of our Evil Dead 2. It was kind of our chance to take a lot of the ideas and themes that we had going through the first movie and then playing on those towards a specific audience. Letting it be funnier.”

He continued, “I like the idea of, if we do a third movie, it being our Army of Darkness. Ya know. Going kind of off the rails. We’ll see.”

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
