Trick ‘r Treat director Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of Monsters is the next installment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, the film setting the stage for a huge battle with King Kong in 2020.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
Now that filming has wrapped, star O’Shea Jackson Jr. has teased an EPIC battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, spilling the beans in a chat with Collider.
“In the last scene between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, I promise you, you will never forget it, in your life,” the actor promised. “As a nerd, I am foaming at the mouth to get in the editing room… Godzilla will be the number 1 movie.”
He added, “The way that [Godzilla] and Ghidorah fight… man… Kong better bring some shit.”
In King of the Monsters…
“When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
The cast also includes Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds.
Dougherty directed from a script he wrote with Zach Shields.
Warner Bros. has set a March 22, 2019 release date with Godzilla vs. Kong slated for release on May 22, 2020.
