We learned earlier this week that heavy metal legend James Hetfield will be starring alongside Zac Efron in director Joe Berlinger’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, a movie about Ted Bundy that will be Hetfield’s first dramatic film role.
Hetfield will play Officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse.
Berlinger just shared our first look at Hetfield as Hayward. Check it out below!
Extremely Wicked director Joe Berlinger previously directed and produced Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, so Extremely Wicked will be a reunion for he and Hetfield.
The film is told from the point of view of Bundy’s former girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lily Collins), set during the multi-year period that Bundy hid his murder spree from her.
John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, Haley Joel Osment, Grace Victoria Cox, Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Terry Kinney and Dylan Baker also star.
Bundy was executed in 1989. Shortly before his execution, he confessed to 30 homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978.
The original screenplay, written by Michael Werwie, won the Nicholl Fellowship first prize and was featured on the Black List.
