Looks like they’re going BIG with the ensemble cast of this one.
Even before IT was released in theaters last year, many were begging for Jessica Chastain to play the role of Beverly Marsh in the decades-later sequel, and it seemed that Chastain herself was more than up for coming on board. Chastain, after all, had previously worked with director Andy Muschietti on his debut feature, Mama.
Today, Variety reports that Chastain is officially in talks to star!
“Sources stress that negotiations are early and that the script is still being worked on, but both sides have officially begun discussing her coming on to the project,” the site notes.
Sophia Lillis, pictured below, starred as Beverly Marsh in last year’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel.
Andy Muschietti is expected to return to the director’s chair, with Bill Skarsgård reprising the role of Pennywise. Filming is set to begin this coming Summer.
The sequel will arrive in theaters on September 6, 2019.
