Rick Famuyiwa, who rose to prominence with the 2015 film Dope, has been hired to adapt Black Hole, a feature adaptation of Charles Burns’ graphic novel.
Famuyiwa will write and direct the adaptation for Plan B and New Regency, which had previously been set up at Paramount with David Fincher attached.
At one point, Alexandre Aja was going to adapt the graphic novel.
“Set in the Pacific Northwest during the 1970s, Black Hole follows a group of high schoolers who contract a mysterious, apparently sexually transmitted disease known as “the Bug.” As the syndrome causes physical mutations, turning the teens into something else, the community is left to deal with the fallout.”
Plan B and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan are producing.
