New Line Hires Writer for Psychological Thriller Adaptation ‘In a Dark, Dark Wood’

Author Ruth Ware’s In a Dark, Dark Wood, a NY Times bestseller when it was released back in 2016, is soon to be a major motion picture, and Deadline is reporting today that New Line has hired Arash Amel (A Private War) to pen the screenplay.

“Amel will adapt the New York Times best-selling mystery-thriller which centers on a reclusive writer who receives an invitation to a bachelorette party of her best friend from high school who she hasn’t seen in 10 years.”

Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea are producing the adaptation, alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lindsay Williams and Shari Smiley.

Witherspoon is unlikely to star.
