Fresh off his role in Black Panther, Martin Freeman stars in Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling’s zombie film Cargo as “…a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.”
For his character, “Salvation may lie with an isolated Aboriginal tribe, but to gain access he must first earn the allegiance of a young Indigenous girl on a tragic quest of her own.”
We’ve just learned today that Cargo has been acquired by Netflix, with a release on the streaming service set for later this year. It’ll also screen at Tribeca in April.
Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade, Simone Landers, and David Gulpilil also star.
Cargo is produced by Kristina Ceyton, who produced 2014’s critically acclaimed psychological horror film The Babadook.
