Anya Taylor-Joy, star of the just-released Thoroughbreds and the upcoming New Mutants and Glass, first came into the public eye thanks to her incredible performance in Robert Eggers‘ The Witch, and we learned last summer that she’ll be re-teaming with Eggers on a remake of Nosferatu. But what’s the latest on that particular project?
At this time, Nosferatu seems to be on the back-burner, as Eggers is instead working on an original horror film titled The Lighthouse. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe have come aboard that film, but Taylor-Joy is still hopeful that Nosferatu is next.
“Right now, Robert is making the Lighthouse, which I could not be more proud of and more excited for, and I’m going to go and visit the set,” the actress just told EW. “He’s such a brilliant man — other than being a wonderful human being, he’s such a brilliant director. So, hopefully, we will get the chance to make [Nosferatu] together, yeah.”
The 1922 silent movie followed the vampire Count Orlok, who wants to buy a house in Germany and becomes enamored with the real-estate agent’s wife. It was an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” and Werner Herzog directed a 1979 remake.
