It was announced last month that Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World and co-wrote this year’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, will be returning to co-write and direct Jurassic World 3, which already has a 2021 release date. The plan was always for Jurassic World to be a new trilogy, and the third film is already in the works.
Speaking with EW, Trevorrow just gave us our first JW3 tease.
“[There are] other characters who we’ll meet in Fallen Kingdom you’ll realize are major characters [going forward],” Trevorrow teases, revealing that Owen and Claire will still be the main characters for the third installment. “If I could contextualize each film, I would say Jurassic World was an action adventure, Fallen Kingdom is kind of a horror suspense film, and Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was.”
Emily Carmichael will write the script with Colin Trevorrow. Steven Spielberg will of course return to executive produce, alongside Trevorrow.
Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley also return as producers.
The trilogy-ender will arrive on June 11, 2021.
