“That’s a pretty fucked up story.”
Now that IFC Midnight has acquired Colin Minihan‘s festival hit What Keeps You Alive, the film will be heading to this weekend’s Overlook Film Festival.
Hannah Emily Anderson and Brittany Allen, who both appeared in Lionsgate’s Jigsaw, star in the thriller as a female married couple pitted against one another during their one year anniversary.
In this exclusive clip, Allen shares an anecdote about her first hunting trip with her father, in which she was asked to shoot a bear. While seemingly an innocent coming-of-age story, it’s layered with ominous foreshadowing that builds tension so thick you could cut it with a knife… her hunting knife.
Trace Thurman reviewed the film out of the fest and declared it “a tense and darkly humorous tale of betrayal.”
Allen, of course, also starred in Minihan’s zombie pic It Stains The Sands Red. Minihan is also the filmmaker behind Grave Encounters, Extraterrestrial and Still/Born.
